Easy Deployment with PlatformManager for your QlikView en Qlik Sense environment

October 8, 2019

You are finished with developing you app and everything is ready to move to production, but now?! Export, import again. Are you sure that everything is correct? Do you know what the dependencies are? Are there no conflicts between the different applications?

How much time do you need for the deployment process?

The deployment to your Qlik production environment is unfortunately not so simple. This process takes a lot of time and energy from you developers. Often you have to download the files, move them to the other server and upload them again. This process is very error prone. Because who gives you the guarantee that the app that you are uploading is the same version as the one you downloaded earlier? And how does the app get the right data? Do you have to change the data connections of the script in the production server? And how do you know which extensions an QVD’s are being used? Are they already in production or do you have to take them as well? Is there a reload task available? In short, this process is very error prone and can have some bad consequences. Maybe the app can’t be reloaded, it contains errors or you are using an old visualization that no longer works, inconsistency between app’s, missing QVD’s. As a developer how can you save your end users for these issues.

Why do we develop apps?

The main goal why we develop apps is to give the end users a way to analyze the data. Therefor we develop apps inside the Qlik environment which we publish to the production server. In the production server the end users can use the apps and start making their analyses. Everybody wants that that happens quick, efficient and with a minimum chance of errors. Most of the time the app has dependencies that you are not aware of. Often QVD’s are used to supply the data and extensions are used to visualize this data. Sometimes an external script is used and a binary load is done. But how do you know all these dependencies?

Easy Deployment with PlatformManager!

With PlatformManager we developed an easey deployment process. With a few clicks you can promote you developed apps to your production environment. Would you like to promote multiple apps? Then you can build a release and publish this to you production environment. Is something wrong? You did miss a bug inside the app? Then you can restore the complete package and keep your production environment consistent. Would you like to publish to the same server or different servers on other locations, you can do it all. Extensions and reload tasks you can publish with the same ease as the apps. Simple and effective. Want to know more?
